Vegan Chocolate Orange Truffles

These rich chocolate & citrus filled truffles are perfect for the lovers of Jaffa flavour. Combining crushed nuts with our flours, cocoa and dates provides a delicious vegan chocolate truffle base that you could use for your favourite chocolate flavour (mint essence, rose water etc).
These truffles are:
- Gluten free
- Vegan
- refined sugar free
- protein rich
Ingredients
- 170g soft dates pitted (soaked in warm water for 20mins)
- 60g roasted walnuts or hazelnuts
- 60g of pecan/walnut/hazelnut flour
- Juice and zest of 1 medium orange
- 50g of cocoa powder
- 1TBSP of melted coconut oil
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 small block of Dairy free chocolate chopped (to be used for coating)
Method
- Drain the dates and blitz into a puree in a food processor
- Add all other ingredients except the chocolate to the food processor and blitz until well combined
- Using a tsp measure portion out 1 heaped teaspoon and roll into individual balls
- Repeat until all mixture used
- Put into the fridge to set for 30mins
- When balls are set put the chopped chocolate into a heatproof dish/bowl and melt in the microwave for 30s intervals (using a spoon to mix) until runny.
- Using a spoon coat the balls in the melted chocolate and put onto a tray to be refrigerated until service
You could also garnish them with candied orange peel or drizzle more melted chocolate for a more fancy look. Enjoy!
