Chocolate Sunflour Brownie

These rich and moist brownies are packed with protein and micronutrients like selenium and magnesium from our Sunflour.  Did we mention they are also delicious? Try to stop at just one!

These Brownies are:

  • Gluten free
  • Dairy free
  • Vegan if using the flax seed and rice malt syrup option


  • ¾ cup Artisan Mills Sun Flower Oil
  • 250g Dairy Free Dark Chocolate
  • 90g Artisan Mills Sunflour (3/4 cup)
  • 90g Gluten Free Flour (3/4 cup)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup raw sugar
  • ¼ cup honey or rice malt syrup
  • 2tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs lightly beaten or 3 TBSP ground flax seed mixed with 9 TBSP water

Optional add ins:

  • 2tsp orange zest, 1/2 - 3/4 cup local nuts, seeds or dried fruit


  1. If using Place 3 TBSP ground flax seed into small bowl. Add water and mix. Set aside for 10-15 minutes to thicken
  2. Place oil, honey & chocolate into small saucepan and gently melt together
  3. Sieve together sugars, flours & salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Add chocolate mix into dry ingredients, mix well. Add thickened flax seed water mixture or eggs & mix well
  5. If using, add your nuts/seeds/dried fruit or zest. Mix well.
  6. Turn on oven 180c and line tray with baking paper. Pour mixture into tray. Allow brownie to rest for 5-10 minutes while the oven heats up
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes
  8. Brownie is cooked when an inserted skewer comes out with just a couple of crumbs attached.
  9. Once cooled, cut into pieces big or small depended on preference (they are quite nice in bite size!)
