Egyptian Dukkah

Our Dukkah is made with a base of pumpkin seed flour and we recommend trying it with pumpkin seed oil for that extra nutty flavour and goodness. With its origins in ancient Egypt, Dukkah is a highly flavoured mix of herbs and spices that is traditionally used as a dry dip with bread and olive oil (dip bread in oil then dukkah). Call it an appetizer, condiment, antipasti, hors d’oeuvre, starter, first course, or even an entree or a snack – however you decide to name or categorise it, it is a flavoursome delicacy.

Other ways to use Dukkah? It may also be scattered on top of vegetable or meat dishes as a rub. It may be used as a topping for salads. Some people use dukkah like our seasoned coating mixes which may be added before cooking chicken, meat or fish.

In addition, some foodies have been known to add it to oil creating more of a paste mixture to top meats and some people add it to rice dishes or blend it in a dip for extra spice. Which ever way you play it and which ever way you use it, it is a tasty creation. You can be imaginative and resourceful and create your own original uses for dukkah.
